By studying your body’s functions while you sleep, we’re better able to figure out what’s causing your sleep disorder. If, for example, we see that you regularly stop breathing throughout the night, it’s likely you have sleep apnea, and we can get you started on a treatment plan right away.

Preparing for your sleep study

There isn’t much you need to do to prepare for a sleep study other than bring your favorite pajamas and pillow, and anything else that you normally use to sleep (books, etc.). We do ask that you refrain from caffeine after noon on the day of your sleep study, and you should discuss with us any medications you’re taking.

Because we want to study your sleep under natural conditions, you shouldn’t take any medications that may make you drowsy.
